Seated beneath a dogwood tree, Anna thoughtfully rests her cheek upon her hand and is depicted surrounded by 12 of the tree's flowers, representing the 12 Apostles. Master Sculptor Gaylord Ho has portrayed the dogwood true to its appearance in nature, with a slender, bent and twisted trunk and blossoms in the shape of crosses. It is said that in the time of Jesus, the dogwood was a straight and mighty tree and with qualities similar to a present-day oak, so dogwood timbers were chosen for the Cross. The story continues that as a result of that monumental burden, the dogwood never again grew tall and true. Available for shipment in January 2002.
